Whether you're stringing up a new pocket, gearing up for game day, or just chilling, this is your go to spot for all lacrosse fans. And if you haven't already, hit that follow button wherever you're listening, and let's get into it.
Parker Bottcher:We will be diving into some major lacrosse headlines, dropping a new gear review, and wait for it, announcing the winner of our giveaway. Plus, we've got some exciting news about the brand new swag store that just opened up. Let's get into it. First up, huge news for Vancouver Warriors fans. Owen Grant just re signed for three more years.
Parker Bottcher:This guy is an absolute unit on defense. We've talked about Owen before. He just won twenty twenty four-twenty five NLL transition player of the year. What I love about Grant is his story. He didn't start playing lacrosse until he was 10, choosing it over triple a hockey.
Parker Bottcher:Now he's one of the most dominant defenders in the league. I think this it always brings us back to the question of multi sport athletes. I am a lacrosse only kid, but I did dabble into soccer. Several of my kids on the a one team also juggle hockey. Honestly, it seems tough, but deciding at 10, well, that's tough too.
Parker Bottcher:Now speaking of the Warriors, mark your calendars, the home opener. November 29, I'm counting down the day and I'm counting down the days and I will be cheering them on from the stands. Okay. Now for some other analog great news that we got to address. Austin Stats was originally suspended indefinitely.
Parker Bottcher:Stats was the former number one overall pick in the 2028 season entry draft. The February has not played since the collision of the twenty three-twenty four season due to off field legal troubles. Before the suspension, Stats was one of the most dynamic goal scorers in the league and finished with his last season with 50 goals and 52 assists. Stats was an incredible talent. He had what he was an incredible talent, but the league had to make a call here.
Parker Bottcher:It is a reminder that what happens off the field just matters just as much what happens on it. Now that suspension has been lifted, we will see whether SEALs choose to put them back in the lineup. Other NLL news, the NLL is absolutely exploding with growth right now. They just announced that the third wave of unboxed expanding to 48 communities across North America. For us here in BC, this could mean more youth programs, more camps, and more opportunities to get our kids into lacrosse.
Parker Bottcher:Alright. Deal. Oh, alright. For this week's gear review, we will be talking about the Cascade XRS Pro helmet. I was super lucky enough to get the Cascade as the second my field helmet for my travel team.
Parker Bottcher:Impressions, this helmet is light, like surprisingly light for the amount of protection it offers. Cascade uses what they call TRI liner system, which is basically three different types of padding together that handle different kinds of impact. The visibility is insane. They got this new angled vision bar that lets you see the ground much better. Comfort wise, the three sixty fit system is legit.
Parker Bottcher:It wraps around your head instead of just sitting on top of it. And the new quick chin clip chin strap uses magnets. Super convenient when you're trying to get your gear on quickly. Now let's talk customization. And this is where it gets fun.
Parker Bottcher:Cascade offers an insane amount of customization. You can literally customize everything. Shell, color, face mask, shell, color, face mask, jaw, bone, chin, piece, chin piece, chin strap. They've got matte they got matteal, glossy, carbon fiber, even metallic finishes. Fair warning, though.
Parker Bottcher:Each customization adds the price, and this helmet already starts around $400 to $450 for the basic model. Is this worth it if you're playing at a competitive level? Obviously, almost every pro player wears Cascade XRS Pro and there is a reason for that. The protection is top tier and the comfort is unmatched. And let's be real, it honestly looks sick.
Parker Bottcher:Wear both the burn and the XRS weekly. Although I really like both, I had to pick one, it would be the XRS. Okay. With the holidays coming up, let's talk Christmas wish list for a minute. Parents, if you're listening and wondering what to get a lacrosse player or you're a lacrosse player getting that list list ready for recommendations, on the top of my list is the brand new loading Tonka Head.
Parker Bottcher:This one will be coming out December 1, so it's gonna be really new. It is one that is always fun to be one of the first kids with the newest, latest. And I know loading is going to crush it with this new launch. New gear for box season. Here on the Pacific West Coast field, season is almost wrapping up.
Parker Bottcher:Then box season will be there before you know it. Fresh gloves are always nice. And honestly, tree sponsors merch. But seriously, hoodies, joggers, training shirts, stuff that you can wear to practice and represent the sport too. Don't sleep on the small stuff either.
Parker Bottcher:Grip tape, extra shooting strings, and a good equipment pack. Alright. The moment you've all been waiting for, it is time to announce our giveaway winner. We added over a 100 entries. Thank you to everyone who entered, shared the podcast, and tagged their buddies.
